Brighton Dome & Festival are seeking talented event professionals to Duty Event Manage during the Brighton Festival 2017.
All posts require proactive and confident people who are able to deal effectively with visitors and artists, time manage, think on their feet and work on their own initiative to respond to the exciting and demanding Festival environment.
We are seeking candidates with experience working Front of House with a knowledge of health & safety, fire and security but we are particularly interested to hear from people who also have experience in outdoor or pop up venues either Front of House or in Production to work with us to manage our events at external and temporary venues.
Each position presents an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of our visitors experience of the Brighton Festival 2017, guest directed by Kate Tempest.
We are looking for 7 Festival Duty Event Managers with different core responsibilities:
1x Fixed Term – Five Short Blasts
To event manage the whole run of this show at Shoreham Harbour. Audiences are booked on a small seagoing vessel which is scheduled alongside the tides. This role will involve outdoor work in all weathers. Hours will cover all show times which will include early starts and late nights. Candidates must be available for each day of this show: Saturday 6th – Sunday 28th May (every day except 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 24th & 25th May). Availability for a preview on Friday 5th May and training and site visits in April and the first week of May is also a requirement. A driver’s license and access to a car is an advantage but not essential.
1x Fixed Term –For the Birds
To event manage an outdoor, site specific installation in the Sussex Woodland open to the public after dark for the duration of the Festival. Candidates for this role should be prepared for regular late night, outdoor work and we are particularly interested in recruiting someone with experience working for similar events and with volunteers. Candidate must be available for each day of the show: Saturday 6th – Sunday 28th May (every day except Mondays and Tuesdays). Availability for a site visit on Thursday 4th May and a preview on Friday 5th May is also essential as well as training and preparations in April and the first week of May. A driver’s license and access to a car is an advantage but not essential.
3 x Fixed Term - 111 hours over 4 weeks
We are looking for three duty event managers to look after a variety of Festival events in a variety of venues including churches, community centres and a cemetery. We require full availability across the four weeks of the Festival although hours will vary from week to week. 111 hours will be the minimum allocated and all hours worked above this will be paid. Availability is required in April for training. Late nights, early mornings and long days are to be expected. These roles require working every weekend during the Festival and
2 x Casual
We are looking for two casual festival duty event managers to look after a variety of Festival events in a variety of venues. We expect to allocate around 20 hours per week of the Festival to each of the successful candidates in the casual roles. Availability is required in April for training. Late nights, early mornings and long days are to be expected. Candidates must be fully available for the four weekends of the Festival to be considered.
