earsthetic
Now in its third year, this mini-season gives you more than straightforward gigs or gallery installations. We go beyond to bring you boundary-breaking audio-visual works exactly as the artists imagined. Think immersion. Think beauty. And think sheer scale.

The Works
The Works is a regular night at Brighton Dome that provides a chance for theatre makers, dancers, choreographers and musicians to present their cross-artform and interdisciplinary work in development.
For this special earsthetic edition, a handful of artists will be selected to present short 10-15 minute excerpts of sound based performance work in development; offering opportunity for them to seek the opinions of the audience they wish to attract, and an opportunity for people who care about performance to engage in collective dramaturgy and development.AK/DK – The Sleeper Awakes
AK/DK, the drum and synth duo based in Brighton, are joined by Richard Jackson of Plume Animation to create a live, audio-visual adaptation of HG Wells' dystopian novel 'The Sleeper Awakes'.Using live performance and visual projection the group will tell the challenging story of a society that has developed into an all-encompassing plutocracy and the price that the population must pay for its stability.
David Somló – Mandala
David Somló is a Hungarian interdisciplinary artist. In his artistic practice he is interested in the small, important moments of human interactions and in the exploration of the audience’s perception with the specific usage of time and performance space. He composes situations.Mandala is a situation for 10 walking performers, 10 cassette players and 1 mandala. As the paths cross each other emptiness becomes form, and form becomes emptiness.
