Music Marathon

presented by encore with Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival

Sat 17 Nov 2018, Brighton Dome Foyer
A marathon of young musical talent from 10am
Donations on the door

Bring your friends and family and enjoy this marathon of young musical talent throughout the day.

This fundraising event for encore and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival supports the next generation of musical talent in Brighton & Hove, and we have 158 young people performing to help us. You can expect to see everything from rock to pop and folk to classical performances, in our fast and furious 8 hour marathon. Each performer is only on for 5-10 minutes, so there’s a multitude to see however long you stay. Maybe you’ll spot the next superstar in the making!

This is a free event, but we need your help to raise money for all our young musicians. You can give cash on the door, visit our online giving page or sponsor any of the young performers via their pages (linked to ours), or text BDMM18 £3 to 70070

What is the money for?

encore is the fundraising network for all the young musicians supported by Brighton & Hove Music and Arts (BHMA). Over 4000 young people of all abilities are taught by BHMA each week in every Brighton & Hove school. Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is a charity that creates, presents and hosts over 600 events each year, with an audience of 600,000, including 20,000 people directly benefiting from our creative learning work each year. BDBF and BHMA became one organisation on 1 Jul 2017. Together we provide music and arts education, performance and touring opportunities for children and young people city-wide.

With your help, the Music Marathon funds will provide support for:

  • The Hardship Fund for young musicians who could not otherwise afford to be involved in music making and lessons. This includes attending orchestras, ensembles and going on tour
  • Orchestra 360 inclusive ensemble with specialist teaching, adapted instruments and performance opportunities
  • Master-Classes offering talented young musicians individual tuition that could make all the difference to their future career
  • Specialist Instruments purchase and maintenance for all our ensembles
  • SPECTRUM music events, nurturing local music talent and providing affordable concerts in a professional setting
  • Bespoke creative learning projects working with young musicians
