Activities confirmed so far
Arts and Crafts
o Create beautiful patterns from coloured sand at our traditional sand painting table. All ages, drop in
o Instrument decorating and plant pot decorating. All ages, drop in
Discover
o Talks & workshops, including creative writing workshops. Listen to readings from contributors to Hidden Sussex, a new anthology about the Sussex experience from a Black and ethnic minority perspective
o Listen to the stories of West African heritage told by Jali Burama and Musa Mboob accompanied by the kora (African harp) and percussion. Drop in.
o Learn about Thomas Highflyer, the young African boy rescued from a slave ship and brought to live in Kemptown in 1868. Film by Judith Ricketts and a talk by Bert Williams and Suchi Chatterjee.
o Learn about the ancient history and purpose of Kangas (African cloth) and take part in a creative writing workshop exploring related themes.

Rhythms & beats
o Join master drummer Bucarr Ndow for our drop in West African drumming workshops. All ages, drop in.
o Local theatre group Banyan Tree will guide you through some classic songs from around the world at this vibrant singing workshop. Drop in, all ages.
o DJ Task will play the best beats from around the world all afternoon
o Ali Bangura will get you moving to the rhythms at a drop-in African dance class. All ages.

o Browse the clothes and jewellery stand, get your face painted or your hands hennaed and meet The Adoption Service, Sussex Police, Brighton University and more at this open-access showcase from local service providers.
o Head wrapping - choose from a wide range of beautiful African fabrics and have your head wrapped in the latest styles
