The Safety Map at Brighton Dome

Video: Abby Butcher and Rosana Cade discuss The Safety Map

Visual Arts & Film, Gay interest

The Safety Map will occupy the Brighton Dome Founders Room as we approach the biggest weekend of the year for the LGBTQ community - Brighton & Hove Pride.

Created by queer innovators Pink Fringe and facilitated by artist Kate Shields, the LGBTQ community are invited to contribute their experiences of the city to a quilted map of Brighton, and the map will come alive as people share their experiences.

Here producer Abby Butcher, from Pink Fringe, and artist Rosana Cade, who worked on the project, discuss the thinking behind The Safety Map.

The Safety Map will be at Brighton Dome Founders Room from 3 to 7 August. A free (but ticketed) workshop inspired by the themes of The Safety Map will take place on Sunday 7 August, led by theatre-maker and performer Emma Frankland. Click here to book.
