Future Creators Collective Invests in Young Peoples’ Skills and Well-Being

News

Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is proud to partner with Future Creators to offer employment skills and opportunities for children and young adults across the region.

Future Creators, formerly known as 'Our Future City', is a collective of organisations spanning the creative industries, local businesses, youth groups, schools, arts and heritage, health and social services. The initiative has re-launched with a new name and online resource – futurecreators.org.uk – to offer advice and support to develop the creative potential, skills and voices of young people.

Alex Bailey, Chair of Future Creators and Chief Executive, Adur & Worthing Councils said:

“The re-launch of Future Creators comes at a critical time, as young people are facing uncertainty and worry about their future education, careers and mental well-being. By understanding the local, regional and national context we can work together to shape and co-develop support that responds to need and will make a difference. The new website offers practical guidance for educators, potential employers, artists, creative organisations and young people to find out how they can become involved with these valuable opportunities.”

Established in 2015 in Brighton & Hove, Future Creators was part of Art Council England's Cultural Education Challenge. In 2019, the project expanded to include partners across Greater Brighton, Worthing & Adur, Crawley and East Sussex to work collaboratively to improve outcomes for children and young people across the region.

Board member, Andrew Comben, Chief Executive, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival added:

“Children and young people are creative by nature. But to become lifelong creators, some need nurture. With the right encouragement, support, opportunities and connections, they can grow into brilliant creative citizens – whether they decide to work behind the scenes or become an artist or performer – we’re investing in their future but also the future of our region’s creative economy.”

Future Creators is supported by Arts Council England, Artsmark, Artswork, Brighton & Hove City Council, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival, Royal Pavilion & Museums, Soundcity, University of Brighton.
