TEDxBrighton at Brighton Dome

We’re feeling pretty honoured to be hosting TEDxBrighton.

Many of you will have indulged in a TED video at some point in your lives, their insightful, eclectic range of videos will have informed many an on and off-line discussion.

If you’ve not heard about TED or TEDx before then here’s a little bit more about their events:

TED is a nonprofit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

TEDx Brighton is back and in its third consecutive year. This year’s theme – Pass It On – is about Legacy & Heritage: What was, what is, what will be and what could have been. With great range of speakers which includes artists, dancers, broadcasters, journalists, accountants, designers and many more you couldn’t fail to learn something new. Head on over to the TEDxBrighton website to see the full line up.

This year their public Ideas Lab is making a return to our Café-bar and it’s open to all. With many exciting exhibitors who will be exploring the theme of legacy & heritage on a more interactive level.

There’ll be a variety of activities to do from exploring history to collaborative drumming, with seedbombs in between. There’ll be something for all ages and we hope you’ll be able to join in.

And if you want to know more about how good TEDxBrighton our Event Manager Simon Cowan has a few words to say on the matter:

‘It is a great conference and, like many other conferences throughout our yearly schedule, we’ve had the pleasure to host people from all different backgrounds and interest groups. It is great working with TedExBrighton as they are an enthusiastic team and help us to make the event work and to put it together. What we have done again this year which is interesting is created an ‘Ideas Lab’ of exhibitions, stands and stalls in the café bar which the public could also interact with as well as the delegates. TedEx will also live stream the event and we arranged large plasmas so that delegates could see the conference from outside the venue itself and so that the public could also see what was being said by the exciting range of speakers.’

If you didn’t manage to get a ticket for the talks then you don’t have to miss out - you can check out the Ideas Lab and of course their Live Stream – so come on down and join in the wonder of TEDx
