What is Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival doing in response to coronavirus (COVID-19)?
Brighton Dome continues to be open as usual. Unfortunately, some of our events have been cancelled or postponed by organisers and artists who are unable to fulfil commitments due to disruption caused by coronavirus. Customers who have booked to attend events that have been cancelled or postponed will be contacted as soon as possible and will be offered a refund or an alternative date.
We continue to plan for Brighton Festival 2020 as usual including contingencies, accordingly.
We are in close contact with the relevant authorities and follow the advice given to us relating to coronavirus in line with daily updates issued by the Government.
We have increased the frequency of cleaning within the venue. Hand sanitizer dispensers and hand washing facilities are provided for staff and customers to use in line with public health advice. Our staff have been provided with the most up to date information about coronavirus and we will continue to update them as the situation develops.
What measures are you taking to help combat the spread of the virus?
As a public venue, we are trying to actively reduce the potential for the coronavirus to spread more widely and would ask that you follow precautions in line with Government advice.
We have instructed our cleaning teams to increase the levels and frequency of cleaning across our facilities and public spaces. Hand washing facilities and free hand sanitzer gel is available to visitors and staff throughout the venue.
Our staff are fully aware of the situation and will be maintaining their own personal hygiene procedures based on Government guidance.
What actions are you taking regarding artists and performers travelling from countries with coronavirus (COVID-19)?
We are in contact with artists and performers who are due to appear in the venue or Festival and who may be travelling to the UK from other countries affected by the coronavirus. If any performances are cancelled as a result of the implications of coronavirus, such as travel restrictions or quarantine measures, we will advise customers with as much notice as possible.
We will support artists and partners to continue to deliver the activities that we have planned and we continue to work with each individual, company or organisation to revise plans where necessary.
What actions are you taking regarding hire events in your venue?
We are in contact with promoters and organisers of external hire events and conferences. If any of these events are cancelled or postponed it will be the decision of the organisers.
If an event is cancelled or postponed the organisers would contact delegates to inform them. If tickets have been booked through Brighton Dome, we would contact attendees as soon as possible.
Is it safe to come to a performance with lots of other people in the venue?
Our priority is to ensure the health and wellbeing of our visitors and audiences.
At present there are no Government ordered bans on live events, public meetings or other group gatherings. Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer has advised there is ‘no clear rationale’ for closing events in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, as has happened in other European countries.

Before attending an event at Brighton Dome or Brighton Festival, we would advise anyone experiencing coronavirus or flu-like symptoms to not attend that event, particularly if you have recently returned from a Category 1 or Category 2 country or area.
Visitors and staff should wash their hands frequently and use hand sanitizer available throughout the venue.
Will I get a refund if I decide not to attend an event due to ill health or if I feel unsafe?
We do not offer refunds for ticket bookings unless the event is cancelled or postponed and you are unable to attend the rescheduled date.

How can I get up to date information about whether an event or performance is cancelled or postponed?
If there is a change to an event or performance you have booked tickets for, we will contact you by email and/or telephone within a reasonable timeframe. Please ensure your contact details are provided to the Ticket Office for this purpose.

What if I feel unwell when I am at your venue or an event?
Before attending an event at Brighton Dome or Brighton Festival, we would advise anyone experiencing coronavirus or flu-like symptoms to not attend that event, particularly if you have recently returned from a Category 1 or Category 2 country or area.
If you are in the venue and feel unwell with shortness of breath, a dry cough or high temperature you should speak to a member of our duty staff immediately so we can offer you assistance and consider the wellbeing of the rest of our audience.
