Free Chamber Music Concerts for Young Classical Music Fans
16 Jan 2023
This spring the next generation of classical music fans can enjoy free admission to our Sunday morning Coffee Concerts at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA), held in partnership with Strings Attached.
We are delighted to offer attendees aged between 8-25 years old FREE tickets, as part of a scheme by the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust. The Trust aims to inspire a love of chamber music in young people by working with venues around the country to offer free admission to younger fans.
The concerts are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a diverse programme of chamber music performed by talented musicians from around the world, in a relaxed and informal setting.
The spring season kicks off on 22 January with a performance by Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s principal cellist, Philip Higham.* A passionate chamber musician, Philip especially enjoys playing music from the Enlightenment and Romantic period and this concert will include music by Bach, Joseph dall’Abaco and Max Reger.
The award-winning Heath Quartet perform music by Haydn, Mendelssohn and Schubert on 19 February. Formed in 2002 at the Royal Northen College of Music, in 2013 they became the first quartet to win the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artists Award and subsequently won the Gramophone Chamber Award for their recording of the complete string quartets of Sir Michael Tippett.
On 19 March, Brighton Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble bring together the English romantics Rebecca Clarke and Edward Elgar for a beautiful programme celebrating English landscapes, featuring Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra’s Director Joanna MacGregor on piano. The concert also includes music from Fauré, to add a touch of Parisian glamour.
The free CAVATINA Scheme Tickets are available in person at both the Brighton Dome and ACCA Ticket Offices. Learn more about the CAVATINA scheme here or call Brighton Dome’s Ticket Office on 01273 709709 for more information.
