Seat Appeal: Paul Robeson

17 Sep 2018

We are celebrating our rich heritage of artists by naming seats in the refurbished Corn Exchange when it reopens next year.

Our first is dedicated to Paul Robeson, bass baritone singer, film actor and political activist.

He performed at the grand opening in 1936 following a former transformation of Brighton Dome by architect Robert Atkinson.

Alongside jazz pioneers, the Southern Syncopated Orchestra, who played here in 1921, he was the start of a long list of the world’s finest artists who have performed at the Dome over the years.

We invite you to take your seat alongside Paul and in appreciation of your gift, your name – or nominated name - will be inscribed on a seat plaque.
