Brighton Dome, Brighton Women’s Centre and Brighton Museum join forces to present our annual celebration of International Women’s Day. With gender equality firmly on the agenda, join us for a marketplace of ideas alongside a specially curated programme of inspiring speakers, activists and innovators, workshops, arts & crafts, causes and campaigns, with fun for all the family. Everyone is welcome – all ages, all communities together.

Lost Women of Art (1.30pm, Brighton Museum Seminar Room)
Join Rev Susie Courtault as she explores the way in which women are portrayed in art, often through the male gaze, alongside her desire to understand women’s contributions as artists over the years and their apparent absence from the cannon of great artists
SPECTRUM Seminar: Women & the Music Industry (4.30pm, Old Courtroom Talk Stage)
Successful professionals discuss working in the music industry as a woman along with the successes and challenges they face
Walking tour of the Women of Brighton (12pm & 2.30pm, meet in the Museum Foyer)
Explore the important women of Brighton’s history with a walking tour of the Royal Pavilion Estate with tour guide Louise Peskitt
Wonder Women (All day, Brighton Museum)
Meet some incredible women from history, including Brighton suffragette, Minnie Turner and fossil hunter Mary Anning, whilst getting up close and personal with some of Brighton Museum’s Collections
Their Fight, Our Future (All day, Brighton Museum)
A pop up display of newly created outfits featuring important women in history, by students from Northbrook MET
Wear it Out (From 12pm, Brighton Museum Education Pavilion)
Discover what the museum is doing to uncover LGBTQ stories. Wear or bring your outfits and share your stories at this look book studio
Nail Transphobia (From 12pm, Brighton Dome Café-Bar)
Charlie Craggs tackles transphobia through nail art, giving people the chance to sit down and have a chat with a trans person and to challenge misconceptions
