SPECTRUM: King Nommo

Wed 16 Mar 2016

King Nommo brings together a collective of Brighton musicians that maintain the raw energy of early authentic afrobeat, whilst incorporating influence from a broad musical palate. Featuring powerful Senegalese vocalist Kadim Saar and members of established bands such as resonators, The Gentle Mystics, Lakuta and Voodoo Love Orchestra. This exciting blend of culture and musical experience has enabled King Nommo to evolve into a unique sound.

Performing highlights to date include supporting Fela Kuti's keys player Dele Sosimi at The Afriganza Music Festival, headlining The Elephant Lounge Stage at Port Elliot Festival in Cornwall, and supporting Reggae legends The Gladiators at Concorde 2 in Brighton.

Strings of Peace
Strings of Peace are a trio you need to hear from Brighton playing original material that encompasses a unique mix of Exotic world music, improvisation and an edgy Hip Hop feel. There's barely anything online we can show you but trust us on this one.

Faye Houston
Faye Houston, incredible singer from UK dub act Resonators brings us her solo material, a sound enriched with her deep and mesmerising tone that has long been her trademark. She co-writes and performs with Mike Shirley, an intricately skilled guitarist with roots firmly set in Blues, Soul, and the psychedelic.

Creatures of the Deep
Hypnotic Afro-soul-folk, blending arresting vocals, eclectic instrumentation and infectious rhythms to create lucid soundscapes of syncopated groove. Expanded to a five piece for the night with a special guest vocalist, performing songs from their upcoming EP and more.
