Right to Die?

Tue 24 Nov 2015

Should the UK adopt a legal right to die? It’s a debate in which both sides cite evidence - based and moral arguments to support their case, and one that intensifies with every attempt by courts around the world to address the current deadlock. This salon, featuring Paul Bowen QC, Dr Ruth Stirton, Lecturer in Healthcare Law and Medical Ethics at the University of Sussex, Jo Bridgeman, Professor of Healthcare Law and Feminist Ethics at the University of Sussex, and Andrew Sanders, Professor of Criminal Law & Criminology, considers the arguments on both sides, as well as questions of doctors’ duty to their patients, euthanasia, and ‘suicide clinics’ in Switzerland.
