Jamie Cullum

Tue 28 May 2013

Since releasing his first album in 1999 whilst still at university, and for the cost of only £48, Jamie Cullum has become one of contemporary British music’s most loved and respected artists. A supremely talented musician he pairs mesmerizing piano playing with a soulful voice that belies his relative youth. In addition to recording and performing music live Jamie also presents a weekly jazz show on BBC Radio 2 that has featured conversations with luminaries such as Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis and Ahmad Jamal. Rapt as they discuss their craft Jamie remarks, 'It just makes you realise how important it is to focus on exactly what you want to do when you’re an artist.'

His new album Momentum has been inspired by his marriage to writer and model Sophie Dahl and experiencing fatherhood for the first time. Recorded with his live band and featuring mainly self-penned songs, the album is the sound of a musician completely at ease with status and ability.

Like his new album says, he’s on a roll. He has momentum. And he won’t be stopping any time soon – backed by his road-hardened band of brothers, Cullum can’t wait to perform these new songs for you in concert.
