Brighton Sings UK brings you an evening of choral song such as Brighton Dome has never heard before!

Singing for Sanctuary celebrates the incredibly vibrant and diverse communities of singers in Brighton and Hove (and beyond) by bringing us all together - under our wonderful Dome - to share a very special evening of music…with a message. Singing for Sanctuary is an eclectic and moving suite of songs and spoken word to explore the theme of safety and sanctuary.

Our singers will have come from many different choirs, singing groups and backgrounds, and, having rehearsed independently, will come together on the day to create an unparalleled wall of sound!

Featuring a diverse repertoire of song – from shape note to blues, Brazilian jazz to South African solidarity, and folk to (choral) big beat and including choral contributions from folk legend Peggy Seeger and gospel great John Mark Harrison intertwined with powerfully moving spoken word including works by Maya Angelou, Singing for Sanctuary is a brand new movement for Brighton – one which we hope will become an annual event.

For this special event, we invite you to experience Brighton Dome in a new way; the audience can choose to be seated in the choir stalls and on the stage of Brighton Dome’s Concert Hall, while being serenaded by our ‘surround sound’ choir in the auditorium! Tickets for this exclusive perspective will be available on a first come first served basis.

Your support for this brand new annual choral happening will help to raise funds for Rise UKBrighton Voices in Exile and Miss Represented (a Brighton Dome arts project for vulnerable young women).

Come and be experience the raw power, infectious joy and united passion of voices raised in harmony as we fill Brighton Dome with songs and stories… of the People, by the People and for the People!
