International Women’s Day 2024

Join Brighton Women's Centre at Brighton Dome for the annual International Women's Day Celebration.

An all-day free and inclusive event celebrating women’s achievements with inspiring speakers, activists and innovators, workshops, art, crafts, campaigns, and fun for all the family.

Everyone is welcome.

Our IWD event is a safe and inclusive space, open to all in the local community. We welcome everyone who would like to join with us in celebration of International Women’s Day.

To attend talks and workshops please sign up with a BWC volunteer outside the room where the workshop or talk will take place. Workshops are on a pay as you feel basis – suggested donation £5 towards our work supporting vulnerable women.

Concert Hall

Bollywood Dance

Enjoy the joy and skill of Bollywood dancing. Four dance routines performed to different types of modern Bollywood music by the Hangleton and Knoll Multi Cultural Women’s Group. Self-identifying women only.

Aneesa Chaudhry leads her hugely popular IWD singing workshop. Self-identifying women only.

Empower Yourself Through the Menopause

An informative talk that aims to empower women who are, or suspect they may be, experiencing peri or menopause symptoms.

Be Your Own Permission Slip

Jess Nicks takes participants on a wild and emotional ride exposing the many ways we limit our minds by seeking permission instead of granting it.

Maggie Gordon-Walker talks about her ongoing Parliament petition and Universal Credit campaign. Affected mothers will share their stories too.

Speed Mentoring

An opportunity for girls (14+) to get some career advice, meet inspiring professional women. Self-identifying women only.

Join Sophia Lorimer for a lesson on how to wear what you love and dress with confidence.

Corn Exchange

Start the day in a positive way with Soulshine Dance!

Through inspirational music, movement and meditation/mindfulness connect to the feel good energies within your body, mind, heart and soul and share them with others!

We Bop Choir

We Bop Choir will perform an uplifting set of a cappella pop and soul covers in glorious 4-part harmony.

Palestinian Dabke - Folk Step Dance

Songs, stomping and love! Traditional circle and line dancing performed by local community Palestinian Culture Group. Celebratory dancing performed at weddings and other joyous occasions.

Lewes Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir 

A group of 30 men and women singing well known empowering songs from musicals.

AudioActive Live Performance

A showcase of young musicians from AudioActive featuring Bessy Again, Shifa and Amy Whitehall-Sands.

Children’s Area

ToyBox Early Years is back at IWD with their area for children and their carers to enjoy together. Activities for all ages ranging from 0–12yrs will be taking place throughout the day.

Studio Theatre

AudioActive Music Making Taster Session

Workshop facilitators from AudioActive’s singing/well-being project ‘Vocalise’ and the female led music technology project ‘Equaliser’ will present a taster session in music making for young people.

The Bone Woman/La Loba – Soul Circus

Gather round, join the circle to share the ancient story of The Bone Woman, sometimes known as La Loba (wolf woman).

Kundalini Yoga

Practice some Kundalini Yoga and Meditation before lying down and resting in the sound waves of the Gong. Bring your own mat. £25 - Book at the BWC info stall.
