The WOW Show with Jude Kelly
Everyone is invited to join WOW for a night of optimism, determination and laughter.
For one night only in Brighton, join WOW – Women of the World’s Founder and acclaimed theatre director Jude Kelly, one of the most influential voices in beauty and journalism Sali Hughes and best-selling author, writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch for a joy-packed evening of optimism, determination and laughter as together we explore our often exasperating and confusing journey towards gender equity, alongside local heroes from Brighton and the surrounding area.
Joyce Coomber Sewell is a student at the University of Brighton where she mentors fellow autistic students, is a multi-generational carer, all whilst completing a PhD examining why it is so difficult for older women to obtain an autism diagnosis, and running two businesses which focus on the autistic community.
Ceyda Tanc has established an incredible all female dance company which challenges traditional gender representation in dance and highlights the intersection of cultures in modern Britain, influenced by her Turkish heritage.
Molly Mathieson is the founder of New Note Orchestra in Brighton, an award winning charity which support people affected by addiction, homelessness and challenging mental health through music, storytelling and dance.
Carolynn Bain was named British Bookseller of the Year in 2023. Her passion to see diversity in a city she loves dearly, and to change the narrative for many black and brown children, led her to create the award-winning bookshop Afrori Books in 2020, specialising in books by black authors.
There’ll be big ideas, special guests and tales of incredible women and non-binary people you may never even have heard of before, but who now you’ll never forget! It’ll be an interactive evening of crowdsourced ideas and actions, as together we discuss, rage and celebrate YOUR burning issues and ideas on everything from money to sex, housing to public transport and bringing up boys to ageing.
Expect personal anecdotes, a whistlestop look at the state of play for feminism in your local town and across the world, surprising stories and lots of fun, as Jude takes WOW on the road across the UK this autumn.
This is a celebratory tour in the run up to WOW – Women of the World’s 15th anniversary in 2025, so come and be part of making history with us.
Grab your friends and family – it's an evening for everyone. If you are a woman or you know a woman, please show up!
