The Hubbub

Mon 29 May 2017

A collaborative, community focused project that aims to bring to light an everyday struggle that affects so many of us.

A challenging, enlightening and interactive artistic installation, The Hubbub showcases Root Experience’s Hidden Project giving you a feel for what it is to live in Sussex today with a hidden disability.

Root Experience invite you to experience The Hubbub with all your senses – we’re not interested in a conventional gallery exhibition - from sound installations to the quiet, safe space of the Den including video, two-dimensional art, storyboarding and interactive sculpture; you are invited to touch, talk, think and feel throughout the work.

A group of artists living with a range of invisible disabilities from ME to autism have been creating together for eight weeks alongside designers, theatre makers and musicians – this exhibition showcases their discoveries and the beginnings of a national touring experience based on their experiences.

There will be open, hosted conversations and provocations around the installation from midday until 4pm, and the creative minds behind Hidden Project will be onsite. We want to know about what inspires you. You are The Hubbub.

The Hubbub is designed to help the community to better understand the experience of living with a hidden disability and therefore to become more inclusive as a society. We want to know about your experiences.

Simon Magnus, artistic director of Root Experience told us how Hidden Project came about. Visit our blog to read more.

Root Experience will have a BSL interpreter at The Hubbub on Sun 9 Jul. Please see Root Experience's Facebook event for more info and questions
