Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Tue 23 May 2017

One of the most influential forces in the post-rock genre, Montreal's Godspeed You! Black Emperor return to the Dome after their previous enthralling and immersive show.

GSY!BE have a reputation for mesmerising shows, infusing their orchestral dynamics with beautiful film loops and epic rock power. It's a wonderful dialectic where composition and emotion both meet and form an exacting tone, timbre and resonance; a sound like no other.

Montreal's Godspeed You! Black Emperor (GSY!BE) formed in 1994 with humble beginnings putting out their first self-released recordings on a limited run of cassettes. By 1997 they released their first album F♯ A♯ ∞ which saw them grow a steady fanbase, thanks also to their spellbinding live shows which combined stunning live projections as well as nine musicians on stage. The likes of John Peel and publication The Wire took GSY!BE as one of their favourites allowing them to gain significant support and following from all over the world.

After a hiatus in 2003 to focus on other musical projects, GSY!BE reformed in 2010 and went on a new tour. They released their fourth album Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! which won the Polaris Music Prize. It, along with their fifth album Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress, released in 2015, have both received huge critical acclaim. Their show back in 2015 is proof that their following and influence has not waned at all. Don't miss out on this experience!
