Trio Da Kali

Hailing from the Mandé culture of Mali, Trio Da Kalibrings a contemporary twist to the ancient traditions of the griots, the caste of hereditary musical artisans. From the soaring vibrato voice of Hawa Kassé Madyto the dazzling balafon solos of Lassana Diabaté, underpinned by the punchy bass lines of Mamadou Kouyaté’s ngoni, the Trio offers a rare glimpse into the soul of West Africa’s most sublime music. Since their first international appearance at the BBC Proms in 2013, Trio Da Kali has collaborated with the celebrated Kronos Quartet and kora sensation Toumani Diabaté.
