His colourful career began in the 1950s performing with some of the Crescent City’s greatest acts. By the 1960s, he was a sought-after session musician, playing on records by Van Morrison, Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones, before establishing a solo career with his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, rhythm and blues and psychedelic rock.
