A Night In with Al Murray

Wed 28 Oct 2020

You can still book this livestream event here (and for up to 48 hours after)

We all know Al Murray for his comedy and alter ego ‘The Pub Landlord’. But last year, he revealed a love and knowledge of history when he launched his podcast, We Have Ways of Making You Talk, which he co-hosts with historian James Holland.

Now, one of the UK’s most successful comics is taking a long, hard look at 20th century British history in his new book The Last 100 Years (give or take) and All That: A Misremembered Journey Through the 20th Century to Today; from the Big Bang at the turn of the century, DOUBLEYOUDOUBLEYOU ONE, through WERWER TWO to the eve of the new Millennium (when Tony Blair tried to set fire to the River Thames while the Queen pulled a face) and all the forgotten tales in between.

Join Al for this one-off livestream event as he gallops through history, exploring the awful lot of events that have occurred in the last 100 years or so, and a few things we have learnt along the way: megalomaniac men with moustaches in charge of countries tend to turn out to be BAD, anyone who thinks they can explain let alone sort out the Middle East is WRONG, France simply cannot be relied upon, and America may or may not be the cause of everything GOOD and BAD in the world [depending on who you ask].

Don’t miss the chance to spend an evening with one of Britain’s best-loved comedians for a brilliantly funny, irreverent and eye-opening whistle-stop tour of Britain since 1914.
