Take the centuries-old art of Japanese drumming, combine it with electrifying athleticism and spice it up with stunning visuals, and you have the recipe for pure theatre that is Kodo. It’s an immensely powerful experience, seeing ancient Japanese culture catapulted into the 21st century by this 26-strong troupe of musicians and dancers: lavish spectacle, intricate dance routines and numerous musical influences make this simply one of the most exciting shows you’ll ever come across.

Since the group’s debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981, Kodo has given over 3600 performances on five continents, spending about a third of the year overseas, a third touring in Japan and a third resting and preparing new material on Sado Island.
