Summer Organ Showcase

Fri 29 May 2015

Enjoy a scorching selection of music performed on Brighton Dome’s great theatre organ with organist Michael Maine. Known for his tenure as Director of Music at Hove Parish Church and St Christopher's School, Michael can regularly be heard on BBC Radio 2’s The Organist Entertains, and is largely responsible for our historic organ surviving to this day. For this summer special, Michael revives the spirit of Douglas Reeve, the organist who made Brighton Dome famous through his BBC Light Programme broadcasts and his world record-breaking Tuesday at the Dome variety shows. From Gershwin's Summertime to songs from Carousel and other great organ favourites, Michael puts our organ through its paces for an afternoon of entertainment from a bygone era.
