Lokito Ya Congo

The search for innovation in popular Congolese dance and Soukous has evolved over the decades. From the days of Franco and TP Ok Jazz to more recently artists such as Kanda Bongo Man and Papa Wemba.

Lokito Ya Congo, led by Renato Mondele a multi instrumentalist, singer songwriter and a charismatic dancer brings a new dimension and style to Soukous. Back in Kinshasa, Renato made his name as part of General Defao’s Big Stars and as a young guitarist he went on to work with many of the greats of African Music.

Whilst keeping their roots firmly in Kinshasa, Lokito Ya Congo’s music fuses the styles of modern Africa and the new diaspora. Their sound is joyous with vibrant melodies that are sweet to the ears while rocking the dance floor.

With four albums under his belt since 2004, Renato and Lokito Ya Congo are truly the newest sound happening in Central African music scene.
