One of Us: In Conversation with Åsne Seierstad

Thu 22 Jan 2015

In July 2011 Anders Breivik killed 77 of his fellow Norwegians in a terrorist atrocity that shocked the world. Many were just teenagers. The new book from best-selling author of The Bookseller of Kabul, Åsne Seierstad, is a gripping depiction of the terrible massacre and a study of evil. But it is also a story about community versus isolation, hope versus rejection, love versus bigotry – and a powerful memorial to those who lost their lives.

As an award-winning foreign correspondent Åsne Seierstad has spent years writing about people caught up in violent conflict, so she is uniquely placed to talk about this shocking event and explore the questions asked in the devastating aftermath of Breivik’s attack in her home country.

Åsne Seierstad will be in conversation with journalist and author Rachel Cooke

Åsne Seierstad is an award-winning journalist and an internationally bestselling author. Åsne has worked as a correspondent in Russia, China and The Balkans.
