Rockshop

Are you aged 14 - 19 and passionate about music? If so, then this five-day course of music-making and performing, supported by legendary bassist Herbie Flowers and his team of top professionals, is for you.

Established in 1983, Rockshop aims to provide young musicians with a platform to create the music they want. With the help of professional musicians you will have the opportunity to write and perform your own songs culminating in a concert at Brighton Dome’s Corn Exchange.

You’ll be working with a team of around 25 inspirational tutors/players at the top of their profession, covering a broad spectrum of styles, experience and knowledge. Workshops include songwriting; rhythm section and percussion basics; help with chord charts, notation and voicing; singing and backing vocals; brass, woodwind and string playing; and tips on improvisation. Rehearsals and workshops take place in our fully-equipped spaces.

Before you know it, you’ll have written a song or two and will be enjoying your moment in the spotlight at the final concert, performing in front of friends and family at Brighton Dome’s Corn exchange, with the best lighting and sound the city has to offer.

Rockshop is open to around eighty 14 - 19 year-olds. Brass, woodwind and string players are especially welcome!
