Ken Liu & Samantha Shannon
Thrones & Bones
Samantha Shannon and Ken Liu tackle the fear of the unknown through their work right from its early emergence, speculative fiction has provided a fertile ground for authors to tackle big human concerns. George Orwell's1984 explored the outcomes of a totalitarian society; Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower provided prescient commentary on climate change and social inequity.
In Thrones and Bones, Ken Liu and Samantha Shannon, authors of the popular Dandelion Dynasty and Bone Season series respectively, share from their work and discuss how speculative fiction can help us navigate such things as the value of human life, justice, and the fear of the unknown.
