Baton of Hope: An Evening of Hope

The Baton of Hope presents a safe, unifying evening of uplifting melodies and stories about connection, community, survival and, above all, hope.

Because with hope, there is possibility. And where there is possibility, there is life.

A special event from the UK’s biggest suicide prevention initiative, uniting powerful performers with an audience determined to make a difference.

Hosted by Cally Beaton, the evening will include performances from international beatbox star and 'one-person music festival' SK Shlomo, the Choir With No Name, young local AudioActive talents Phonetic and M.Kudo, award-winning poet Cecilia Knapp and local drag queen Cherry Bomb. Jonny Benjamin MBE and Neil Laybourn (The Stranger on the Bridge) will also share their inspiring story.

This is an inclusive community event for anyone who has been affected by suicide, knows someone who has, or simply wants to connect with others to raise awareness of this important cause.

The Baton of Hope is touring the UK this summer, visiting 12 cities in 12 days to start necessary conversations and prompt appropriate actions.

This event is the finale of the Baton's visit to Brighton. 90 Baton Bearers will carry the Baton 25km across the city, starting at the Peace Statue at 8am and stopping for free events at Platf9rm, the Community Garden Upper Bedford Street, Brighthelm Gardens, Plus X / Dad La Soul and the Bevy pub.

Everyone is welcome at all events, and you can find the route times here.

Thank you for choosing to be part of this momentous day, bringing together individuals, charities and organisations with the shared aim of working towards a zero-suicide society. Together, we make the difference.
