Arji Manuelpillai and AFLO. the poet

An electrifying evening of spoken word from Arji Manuelpillai and Brighton Dome In-House Artist AFLO. the poet. Two extraordinary voices collide, weaving tender introspection and fearless verses to ignite change.

Arji Manuelpillai, a London-based poet and performer, has been mentored by Jerwood/Arvon and has contributed work to Poetry Review, The Rialto, and Bath Magg. He's also known for his book 'Improvised Explosive Device', highlighted in The Telegraph (within its top 20 poetry books of the year) and The Guardian. He was shortlisted for The National Poetry Prize in 2021.

AFLO. is a Brighton-based spoken word artist and activist, working with topics such as racism and mental health. She's performed at numerous events and festivals and heads an evolving Brighton collective of Black marginalised-gendered artists called 'AFLO. and the Poets'. In addition, AFLO. serves as a trustee for Brighton's Black Anti-Racism Community Organisation (BARCO) and is currently an in-house artist for Brighton Dome.
