For over a hundred years Brighton and Hove has been home to some of the foremost female entertainers in the country. This illustrated talk looks at the household names and some of the lesser-known women who have kept us on the edge of our seats.

Find out about opera star, Adelina Patti, who once demanded no less than $5,000 in gold for a performance and caused a storm when she appeared at Brighton Dome in 1901. Hear the story of Evelyn Dove, the first black woman to sing on BBC Radio, who performed at Brighton Dome as part of the Southern Syncopated Orchestra in 1921
