Help us build the ultimate alternative Christmas playlist
Christmas is fast approaching, it’s time to prepare for the unavoidable deluge of seasonal songs. Throughout the country, people are beginning to dust off their Dad’s LP’s, dig out Now That’s What I Call Christmas, and tune the wireless to Heart FM. Whether it’s Bono belting out ‘well tonight thank god it’s them, instead of you’, a closing time rendition culminating in a chorus of ‘five gold rings’ or Noddy Holders unmistakable black country yell of ‘it’s Christmas’, the holidays wouldn’t be the same without being driven slightly insane by a selection of Yuletide classics. With this in mind, Kate Rusby stops at the south coast with one of the most valuable Christmas presents of all. Growing up in Penistone, a market town in the heart of South Yorkshire, she has vast experience of Christmas carollers in various pubs throughout the area. This Christmas time, she tours the country with reinterpretations of famous and obscure carols perfect for the build up to Christmas. She therefore provides you with a valuable and rare treat this winter, giving you a way in which to embrace the festive spirit without having to embrace Mariah Carey, Chris Rea of either member of Wham!
To celebrate, we are offering a pair of tickets to Kate’s show in the Concert Hall on the Thu 5 Dec. All you need to do to win is suggest the best alternative Christmas track. Whether a fresh retelling of a Yuletide favourite, or a little known gem, we’d like to hear from you. All you need to do is post your favourite weird and wonderful YouTube video to our Facebook page, or in the comments below. Winners will be announced on Tue 3 Dec, so get your entries in soon.
