Half-Term Adventures at Home with Brighton Dome

News

Keep little people entertained at home this half-term holiday with a range of family-friendly online events and activities from Brighton Dome.

Children aged 6 and over can step into The Anarchist's Mobile Library across the half-term week (Mon 26 Oct-Sun 1 Nov) and create their own story  - book online directly HERE . Accessed online, this narrated audio piece created by Tessa Bide Productions, offers families the chance to dive in and choose what adventure they might seek and what ending they would like to see, with story options to select as they go. Bold and colourful animations will accompany the narration if needed, with children encouraged to put down their screens and let their imaginations paint the visuals. While theatres are closed, this audio adventure takes young minds on an immersive story-telling journey of their own making.

On Sunday 1 November, families can enjoy a live stream performance of Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler’s classic book The Snail and the Whale, adapted for the stage by Tall Stories. Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible trip around the world on the tail of a big, grey-blue humpback whale. Live music, storytelling and plenty of audience interaction bring the book vividly to life in a heart-warming adventure suitable for ages 4 and up.

From Friday 23 October, families are also invited to create their own film about Brighton Dome’s heritage, in collaboration with local charity Carousel. Watch the online tutorial and download the accompanying pack to make a film starring some key characters from the venue’s rich 200-year history. Submit your finished film and it could be featured on the Brighton Dome website! Find out more here.
