Joint dance initiative announced for two of the Brighton’s leading arts organisations

Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival and South East Dance are to join forces, bringing together the expertise of both organisations to develop a new world class dance performance programme for Brighton Dome and across the wider city of Brighton & Hove.

By working in partnership both organisations hope to strengthen their ambitions to deliver an exciting, accessible and innovative dance offer for audiences, artists and participants alike; helping more people across the city to not only be able to see but also take part in dance.

"Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival are delighted to be working with our colleagues at South East Dance on a joint dance initiative. We already have a long-term commitment to supporting artists, hosting international talent, creating new work and providing new experiences for our audience across theatre and music and this move will compliment and in many ways complete our artistic planning team.” Andrew Comben, CEO, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival

Jamie Watton, CEO and Artistic Director at South East Dance said: ‘Given the expertise held by both organisations, it makes absolute sense for South East Dance and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival to collaborate in this way. We are delighted to be working with such and outstanding organisation and are looking forward to jointly developing dance across the city and beyond.’

Cate Canniffe, South East Director, Arts Council England, added: ‘We are thrilled that two of Arts Council England’s most dynamic National portfolio organisations are collaborating on this new initiative. We’re sure that the world-class dance programme from these two organisations will attract even more people to the city and appeal to a wide range of audiences.’
