Brighton Dome is to join theatres, amateur groups, arts companies and audiences from across the UK and beyond in taking part in the second #LoveTheatreDay – the Lovie award-winning social media celebration of all things stage – on Twitter.
Coinciding with the venue’s performance of Enda Walsh’s acclaimed play Disco Pigs on Wednesday 18 November, the 24-hour Twitter event – run in partnership by the Guardian Culture Professionals Network, Twitter UK and CultureThemes – is open to all; from the people behind the scenes who make the magic happen to the audiences who visit the venue every week.
Across the nation, one main hashtag (#LoveTheatreDay) will guide the overall conversation throughout the day, with three sub-hashtags to highlight specific themes: #Backstage, #AskATheatre and #Showtime:
#BackStage (10am-12pm) will offer a glimpse into how a production comes together in the weeks and months leading up to the big night. It will put the limelight on the day-to-day work of the unsung heroes, such as production staff, the marketing and press departments to highlight the intricacies and secrets behind show day itself.
#AskATheatre (3-5pm) will provide theatre fans and aspiring actors a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from the individuals and groups that make the magic happen via a Q&A with key Brighton Dome staff.0020
#Showtime (7-10pm) will give Brighton Dome’s Twitter followers a unique insight into the performance of Disco Pigs as award-winning director Cathal Cleary shares his experiences in the arts and insights into the show. Audiences will also be invited to share their views on the work both pre and post-show.
