VIDEO: Trio Isimsiz on their beginnings, musical personality, and ping pong
The Trio Isimsiz (Isimsiz means 'anonymous' in Turkish) was formed in 2009 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama -three young musicians originally unknown to each other -and has gone from strength to strength.
In 2015 they won 1st Prize and the Audience Prize at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. In December they perform as part of our Coffee Concerts series.
Trio Isimsiz are Michael Petrov (cello), Erdem Misirlioglu (piano) and Pablo Hernan (violin). Here they discuss the merits of playing as a trio, personality quirks, and the importance of humour to a good working relationship.
Erdem Misirlioglu – "We have our own musical personality and it’s great to be able to bounce off each other’s. If you’re playing on your own, every decision and every spontaneous moment even, is part of you. Whereas when something spontaneous happens in a concert and there are external factors going on as well, it can be even more exciting."
As plans get underway for the refurbishment of the Corn Exchange, our popular series of Sunday morning chamber concerts moves to the Concert Hall, before taking up temporary residence at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts at University of Sussex, Falmer.
