CocoRosie
Mon 17 Jun 2013
Deftly blending a myriad of styles and references, from hip-hop and reggae to folk and opera, CocoRosie (American sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady) sing the things we can't say, shaping the most painful of experiences into memorable and evocative pop songs. Boldly tackling topics most wouldn't dare, the sisters contrasting styles deliver a rare and arresting potency. Each sister has her own persona and vocal delivery Bianca delivers hard-hitting truths in a childlike voice whilst Sierra responds in open tones, playing a range of instruments including the harp, flute, piano, and guitar. This is music-making that confounds the boundaries of pop.
