Step into the hidden kingdom where roots, fungi and people are linked in ways we're only just beginning to understand. Darren Le Baron explores the mysteries of these ancient relationships and what they can teach us about growing, belonging and living well.

Darren Le Baron

Darren Le Baron is an educator specialising in ethnomycology and mushroom cultivation, and is based between the UK, the Caribbean and Africa.

Known around the world for his Shroomshop Master classes and mushroom educational programs, he is a keen cultivator and teacher. He has been growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms for over fourteen years and has translated his home growing experiences into a social enterprise.

His achievements include launching the UK's first accredited Mycology and Mushroom Cultivation course for schools and young people in 2021, providing hands-on experience to empower schoolchildren and at-risk youth.

He is also an Organic Horticulturist and Permaculture tutor who supports schools, businesses and so-called hard-to-reach communities around the world to create holistic and sustainable working systems.

Collectively, his work aims to inform and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to cope with social challenges and contribute to community development as well as self-improvement in an innovative, creative, culturally aware style.

About Seedy Sunday

Kickstart the growing season at the city’s biggest gardening event - and the UK’s longest-running community seed swap.

At the heart of Seedy Sunday is a huge seed swap table where heritage & local seeds are donated and swapped. Everyone is welcome to bring seeds to swap, or make a small donation for a packet. A huge range of stallholders also offer seeds, gardening kit and much more for sale. Whether you have seeds to swap or not, Seedy Sunday is the perfect place to kick-off the growing season, getting seeds, materials & inspiration for the months ahead.

Entry to the event will be by donation on the day. Tickets for the event’s much-anticipated programme of talks will be on sale later this autumn.
