Actors dressed as chefs and cooks standing around a thin stage, surrounded by an audience. The lights are dim, and there is one actor in the centre stage smiling.

Brighton People’s Theatre

Associate Company

Brighton People’s Theatre make bold, thought-provoking and authentic work reflecting the diversity of Brighton.

They work with local people, more than 80% of whom have never performed on stage before, bringing people together to be part of something bigger than themselves. Brighton People’s Theatre is a nationally recognised leader in co-creating theatre, training artists from across the UK in their approach. Their play Born & Bread – set in a community kitchen and exploring themes of migration, friendship and loneliness – was a sold-out hit during Brighton Festival 2024. They run weekly drop-in workshops, welcoming anyone who is over 18, with a BN postcode, and have a particular focus on ensuring those from low socioeconomic backgrounds can get involved.
