This boundary-breaking dance company producing exceptional work created by Artistic Director Hofesh Shechter OBE, became Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival’s first Associate Company in Nov 2008

Their dramatic debut of Uprising and In your rooms has been followed by specially commissioned world premieres of The Art of Not Looking Back (2009) and Political Mother (2010), works of with, at its core, an extraordinary company of internationally diverse dancers.

2011 and 2012 saw the presentations of In Good Company, an evening of new works choreography by company dancers and, in 2014, Artistic Director Hofesh Shechter was Brighton Festival’s Guest Director alongside the presentation of his new work SUN.

Since then, Hofesh Shechter Company continues to present its work at Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival including Grand Finale (2017), SHOW (2018) by Shechter II and Double Murder (2021).

Central to its belief that dance can bring about meaningful change is Shechter Moves, the company’s learning, engagement and development programme. Primarily aimed at young people age 14+, this programme continues to engage with communities in the Southeast to shape opportunities for everyone to experience the life-enhancing potential of their creativity.

Hofesh Shechter Company is supported with public funding through Arts Council England and benefits from the support of BNP Paribas Foundation for the development of its projects
