The old masters; how well they understood. When Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi created their concertos, they weren’t just providing showcases for brilliant players, and they weren’t just creating delightfully vivid musical pictures – though no music does that with more imagination and charm than Vivaldi’s evergreen The Four Seasons. They were looking for a universal harmony: and expressing it in music that, three centuries on, has an unmatched ability to refresh the human heart and soul. The LPO’s own Pieter Schoeman takes a hand-picked team of colleagues on a journey into two of music’s most beautiful minds.
