Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra: New Year’s Eve Viennese Gala

Stephen Bell conductor
Rebecca Bottone soprano

Out with the old and in with the new: what better way to celebrate, than with the BPO’s Viennese concert on New Year’s Eve?

Conductor Stephen Bell returns for an afternoon of musical fizz and fun, in a concert of favourites from the Strauss family and the wonderful world of Viennese operetta. He’s joined by the ‘vocally dazzling’ (Bachtrack) young soprano Rebecca Bottone, whose recent appearances include Aix-en Provence Festival, Royal Opera House and Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music at Paris Châtelet.

Highlights include Johann Strauss’ The Blue Danube and Voices of Spring, alongside Johann Senior’s Radezsky March; younger brother Josef is represented with his delightful Sphärenklange waltz. An extract from Lehár’s comic opera Giuditta, together with waltzes and polkas from the heady days of 19th century café society, provides the perfect opportunity to sip a glass of champagne and welcome in the New Year – with panache!
