Netflix sensation Kim’s Convenience comes to Brighton Dome

Theatre and Cabaret, News, Behind the Scenes, Theatre

Catch the heart-warming theatre show, coming to Brighton Dome 3-5 Apr following hugely successful international and London runs.

Starring Netflix’s James Yi (left) as Kim, Kim’s Convenience is the charming sitcom about a family-run Korean store.

The stage show, written by Ins Choi, inspired the creation of the Netflix phenomenon.

Exploring the family dynamics of immigrant parents, Ins Choi calls the play his ‘love letter to his parents and to all first-generation immigrants who now call Canada their home’.

With superb acting and lovable characters (The Guardian ****), the show is ‘glorious from the first moment’ (All That Dazzles ****).

In an interview with Theatre & Tonic, James Yi talked about the differences between the TV series and theatre show; on stage there’s more freedom to explore the more ‘real’ and heartfelt themes of the story.

He shared how the character of Kim has changed his life. Some audience members have even reconciled with their parents after watching the show!

Don’t miss this charming comedy Thu 3 - Sat 5 Apr!
