SPECTRUM continues with four live shows this autumn

News

We have some fantastic SPECTRUM live events coming up this autumn, showcasing emerging talent from across Brighton & Hove, at The Basement, Brighton Youth Centre and Brighton Museum.

In September we host a Brighton Digital Festival special (30 Sep, The Basement), curated by Lara Rix-Martin of Objects Ltd, a Brighton based label in its second year, that focuses on showcasing talent from electronic music producers that identify as female or gender non-binary, a demographic that is under-represented in this genre. She brings us a selection of her favourite Brighton based musicians including Drill Folly, the project name of producer Sarah Phelan, described by The Guardian as an ‘icily bracing industrial attack’, and Ingrid Plum who creates work that sits between sound art, improvisation, multi-media installation, neo-classical and contemporary Nordic folk music.

On 28 October at The Basement, SPECTRUM alumni Dog in the Snow holds the release of her debut LP, Consume Me as part of the series. She is accompanied by the very talented Knightstown, who is soon to release his EP on Fat Cat Records.

In November we take over the Brighton Youth Centre (24 Nov). The night will be headlined by surfer/garage rock band Animal House, who in June released a video to accompany their song Coca Cola, made in collaboration with Brighton Festival 2017 artists The Hiccup Project. Also on the November SPECTRUM line-up will be Sulky Boy, and psychedelic lo-fi rockers Porridge Radio.

December is our winter special with unplugged performances scatted throughout the rooms of the stunning Brighton Museum (7 Dec), with music from the likes of Emma Gattrill, M. Butterfly and Sharon Lewis.

SPECTRUM is a Brighton Dome project which cultivates and supports the vibrant music scene of Brighton & Hove, kindly supported by The Pebble Trust. As well as live events, the project includes a number of special seminars and professional development events to take place throughout the year.
