From workshops to post-show discussions, we’ve got plenty of opportunities for all ages to get involved this autumn.

Playmakes - Handa's Surprise

Handa’s Surprise is a theatre show for children aged 2-6, blending physical performance, puppetry, live music and song, inviting audiences to travel to Kenya and follow in Handa’s footsteps as she journeys to see her best friend Akeyo in the next village. After the 10.30am show on Sat 14 Oct, our young audiences have the opportunity to get crafty and make a keepsake to take home.

Trope

Trope is a new spoken word night for Brighton in partnership with Apples and Snakes, the theme for the first edition on 14 Oct is ‘Power’, and the line-up includes Kat Francois (pictured below), Too Many Dragons, and poet in residence Chris Parkinson. Sexy: The Workshop

Writer, performer and burlesque artist Vanessa Kisuule explores our obsession with what is sexy through comedy, spoken word, dance and various states of undress, in her show Sexy. The accompanying workshop for self-identifying women and non-binary people is a fun, relaxed and explorative space where participants delve deep into the topic through movement, dance and writing. No experience necessary, age 16+

What If I Told You?

Pauline Mayers’ show What If I Told You? blending dance and theatre, invites us to reconsider the stories we tell about our past and the history on which we build our futures. An after-show conversation Koan: What If You Told Us led by Khadijah Ibrahiim, provides an opportunity for the audience to share thoughts and ideas.

Theatrical Make-up Workshop

Get ready for Halloween with this practical workshop led by professional make-up artist Sylvi du Sauzay. Please bring your own brushes if you have them, and an old towel

A cappella Singing

Join singer and vocal tutor Sarah Gardner for a fun and invigorating day celebrating the power and joy of the human voice. Open to all. The workshop is followed by a short performance in the café-bar for friends and family until 5pm.

Forum Theatre

Forum Theatre is about creating a platform for debate and using theatre to present it – the audience can stop a performance where a character is being oppressed in some way and suggest different actions for the actors to carry out. No experience in theatre or acting is needed, and the ‘joker’ directs the debate ensuring it is a safe and respectful situation.

House Plant Doodle Make
