Bring Your Own Beamer: a digital wonderland
13 Sep 2016
From 3D projection mapping to short films and interactive installations, Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) is a digital wonderland showcasing all that can be created using a projector
This year for its 5th anniversary BYOB had the highest number of artist submissions to date and Pop-Up Brighton has chosen 12 pieces for the free event taking place on 16 & 17 September. There will be areas where people can turn up on the day and project (sign up via popupbrighton.com), and for the first time, digital workshops.
Artist, filmmaker and animator Thomas Buckley will build a digital nature-based room installation, in which there will be free yoga sessions on Saturday 17 September. Below is a video clip of the work he brought to last year’s BYOB:
Audio and video remixers Ithaca Visual will present The Storm, an immersive installation.
BAFTA award winning digital artist Seb Lee-Delisle's Lazer Arcade 2.0 recreates the old fashioned side show with a 1980s arcade laser style and modern Nerf guns.
Also chosen to present their work at BYOB this year are Numan Ahmed who will be using 3D mapping to give an illusion of magical book, Irie Pixel who will create a hologram, and Alexia Lazou who is using one of the oldest forms of beamers, Victorian magic lanterns.
Bring Your Own Beamer is at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange on 17 and 18 September.
