In this bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s golden couple, Lost Dog Dance blends dance, theatre and comedy to tell the real story of Romeo and Juliet
It turns out they didn’t die in a tragic misunderstanding. They grew up and lived happily ever after. Well they lived at least. Now they’re 40ish, married and at least one of them is in the grips of a mid-life crisis.
Feeling constantly mocked by their teenage selves and unable to let go of their extraordinary youth, they decide to enter couples therapy. In the hopes of confronting their marital crisis, they put on a performance – about themselves. Their therapist told them it was a terrible idea.
Directed by Olivier Award-winning director and choreographer Ben Duke, Juliet & Romeo offers a new take on the complexities of modern relationships through a heartfelt and darkly comic duet that confronts our cultural obsession with youth and our difficulties in accepting the ordinariness of adult life.
