Ida Barr: Slipped Disco
Brighton favourite Ida Barr returns with Slipped Disco - a seriously silly, joy-filled evening where absolutely everybody can feel part of the show.
Led by Ida as party host, expect new songs alongside Ida’s greatest hits and trademark singalongs, mashing up Music Hall tradition with Hip Hop and R’n’B. But most of all, expect unexpected moments - Ida has been known to spark hokey cokeys and conga lines outside Brighton Dome, and turn audience members into stars.
Through the lens of a poverty-stricken older woman in modern London’s East End, Ida tackles pensioner poverty, social isolation, everyday politics and fears about the future, confronting what scares us and turning it into something we can laugh at together. Trigger warnings: may contain references to Gaviscon and Deep Heat.
Slipped Disco is for everyone: a chance to sing loudly and leave feeling a little lighter than you arrived. It’s theatre as relief, catharsis and collective release. No pressure. No picking on people. Just low-stakes, big-hearted participation.
