Life Drawing Workshops
We’re developing something new for Brighton, and we’d love you to be part of it
From Fri 28 Nov to Wed 3 Dec, artists Ivan Morison and Ju Row Farr will host eight joyful, fast-paced, life-drawing sessions at Brighton Dome. Sessions last three hours with generous breaks. Expect quick poses, conversation, music, and a warm room.
Why we’re doing this
These sessions are part of the artist's research process—an exploration of love, connection and closeness in all their forms, through the bodies of Brighton. The collective act of being looked at and looking is the point: the charge in the room, the attention we give and receive, the way time seems to thicken. It’s these feelings and experiences—not literal drawings—that will shape the tone, atmosphere and forms of a new work for 2026.
You can Take Part in Two Ways:
For life models (paid)
We’re inviting adult models who are comfortable being drawn nude, to contact us. Our focus is connection, so we especially welcome pairs or small groups who share a real bond—partners, friends, family, colleagues, carers, teammates—or anyone happy to model solo and be paired.
We welcome adults of all body types and sizes; any gender (including trans, non-binary and agender people); any sexuality; and all cultural backgrounds. Disabled and neurodivergent people are warmly encouraged to apply, and we’ll work with you on pose lengths, supports, temperature and privacy. We particularly encourage people from queer communities and those who don’t often see themselves represented in life-drawing spaces. No prior life-modelling experience is required.
Consent and choice are central. You decide whether to pose alone or with others (people you know or new pairings), and who draws you—the lead artists, people you know, or the public in open sessions.
For first-timers we’ll offer a pre-session gathering/masterclass with the artists and experienced models: practical tips, what to expect, questions and concerns. This will take place on Fri 28 Nov, 1.30pm–5.30pm.
All Models are paid £100 per session (three hours including breaks). The room is phone-free: no photography or filming. Private changing areas will be provided.
For people who want to draw (free)
We’re also inviting drawers to join selected sessions. These are free to attend, but booking is essential and capacity is limited. All experience levels are welcome; basic materials will be on hand, and you’re welcome to bring your own.

About The Artists
Ivan Morison is an artist working across sculpture, film and social practice, often in collaboration with Heather Peak. His work explores bodies, landscapes and materials in states of flux, and how public artworks can challenge normative uses of shared space.
Ju Row Farr is an artist, writer and facilitator. She worked for many years with Brighton-based collective Blast Theory and now develops independent projects centred on social encounter, listening and language in public life.
