Immerse Yourself in the Magic of Sussex

From the rolling South Downs to the sparkling sea, Sussex comes alive in Enchanting Forest, a breathtaking immersive evening of live music and film that celebrates the county’s natural beauty in its fragility and resilience.

Presented by Brighton’s Forests Without Frontiers (FWF), this one-of-a-kind event features live performance, a short film and mesmerising visuals which explore Sussex’s landscapes, heritage and the delicate balance of nature. With the sounds of nature as a constant backdrop, the county’s forests, rivers and coastline are brought to life by an extraordinary ensemble of local artists, spanning generations and styles, from folksingers to a choir and orchestra.

Hosted by the project’s director and FWF founder Nicoleta Carpineanu (aka Nico de Transilvania), the evening will feature performances from Alice Russell, the Copper Family, New Note Orchestra, the Enchanting Forest Choir led by Sophia Efthimiou, Andrew Stuart-Buttle, Danny Emerson and a host of special guests. Ecologists, conservationists and academics from the Sussex Wildlife Trust, Sussex Underwater and the University of Sussex have also been involved in creating this inspiring work.

“By bringing people together through music and art we can raise awareness of the amazing diverse landscapes right on our doorstep and help preserve and protect them – and local traditions – for generations to come,” said Nicoleta.

Let the music move you, the stories inspire you and the sights transport you. Enchanting Forest is more than a show, it’s a celebration of Sussex’s natural wonder and resilience.

'By getting involved with projects like this, I hope to give a voice to what’s been ‘out of sight, out of mind’ for far too long. People just aren’t aware of the diversity of wildlife along the Sussex coast! By sharing the special stories of nature recovery happening here in Sussex, we aim to encourage our community to connect with their local blue space and use their voice to stand up for its protection.'
Ruby Stothard - Sussex Underwater Ambassador
'The traditional songs that have been passed down through the generations of working people, particularly those in Sussex, are of the utmost importance. The transmission of songs via the oral tradition in community settings gives us a window into the past; one of times gone by, simpler living, and a common imagination that we seldom see today. '
Jack Hogsdon - Folk Musician
'It is important to preserve these traditions and bring them forth into an age that desperately needs more community & togetherness. Being part of this project has been a very positive engagement with the local environment & history.'
Tobias McEwen - Folk Musician
